ืื ืืงืจืืื ืืืคื ืื (the handle of the ax at its front) โ the manner that a person grasps hold on the handle of the ax when he wants to sever/cut with it, he doesnโt hold it actually at the top of the handle/helve lest it slip and fall from his hand, but rather he leaves a it of in back of his hand, and the measurement that there is between the hand of a person and the iron he calls from in front of him. But the person who goes out from the back of his hand he calls from in back of him in the other clause [of the Mishnah]. But that it doesnโt explain in this clause , the law of what is in front of him and what is behind him, because here, it considers theses those that their measurement is a handbreadth, but in the other clause [of the Mishnah], those whose measurement is three fingerbreadths.
ืคืจืื (a pair of compasses) โ drawing figures in he air/gesturing. CUMPASU in the foreign language. And the artisans need to make round forms with it.
ืืงืืช (stone-cutterโs mallet) โ an iron hammer that its one end is sharp and with it they bore/perforate and with it they cut/hew the stones. And on account of this it is called ืืงืืช. And stone-cutterโs mallets and the ax/hatchel are all vessels of iron (First Kings, Chapter 6, Verse 7): โWhen the House (i.e., the First Temple) was built, only finished stones cut at the quarry were used,] so that no hammer or ax or any iron tool was heard in the House [while it was being built].โ
ืืคืชืื ืืื ืื (the shaft of a stonemasonโs chisel) โ "ืคืชืืื ืืืชื" /โ[On the two stones you shall make] seal engravings โ [the work of a lapidaryโ] (Exodus 28:11).
